NELFUND Disburses N1.66bn To Over 17,000 UniMaid Students

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the disbursement of N1,663,475,500.00 to the University of Maiduguri and its 17,547 students.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, NELFUND commended the institution for its cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students across the country.

“We commend the institution for its cooperation and reaffirm our commitment to supporting students across the country,” he said.

The University of Maiduguri’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Mele, expressed gratitude to the federal government for this gesture, stating that it has brought relief to parents and students.

In a letter of acknowledgement posted on X, Mele stated, “The University of Maiduguri is in receipt of the sum of ₦1,663,475,500.00 (One billion, six hundred and sixty-three million, four hundred and seventy-five thousand, five hundred Naira) only being first batch payment for 2024/2025 session in respect of seventeen thousand, five hundred and forty-seven (17,547) candidates that have been successfully verified.

“I, on behalf of the Governing Council, the Senate and the entire students’ body sincerely appreciate this uncommon gesture exemplified through the NELFUND scheme. This unprecedented gesture of the Federal Government has indeed brought respite to parents and students.

“While appreciating government for this scheme, we assure you of our continuous cooperation in ensuring seamless and transparent processes for the greater benefit of our students.”
