Nasarawa Police Nab Cattle Rustler, Female Ammunition Courier On Wanted List
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, on Sunday confirmed the arrest of an alleged notorious cattle rustler and kidnapper, Abashe Gizo, and a female suspect, Fatima Salisu, who was caught trafficking arms for criminals in Katsina State.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Rahman Nansel, said Salisu was first apprehended after a tip-off that she was ferrying ammunition from Doma Local Government Area to Katsina State.
Nansel said, “The unit arrested Salisu and recovered a significant cache of ammunition.
“The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.”
Shortly after Salisu’s arrest, the police launched another operation targeting Abashe Gizo, who had long been on the command’s wanted list for multiple offences, including kidnapping and cattle rustling.
Officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department tracked him to his hideout in Ruwan Baka village, Doma LGA.
Nansel added, “The suspect, who has been on the Command’s wanted list for an extended period due to multiple offences including kidnapping and cattle rustling, was successfully apprehended yesterday following an intensive manhunt.”
After his arrest, police interrogated Gizo, who allegedly admitted committing crimes and led officers to his hideout.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crimes and led officers to his hideout at Ruwan Baka village, Doma LGA, where one AK-49 rifle (Breach No. 453144) and a magazine were recovered in his possession,” Nansel said.
