NAPTIP Receives 10 Victims Of Human Trafficking
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command, has taken custody of 10 victims rescued from human trafficking.
The Zonal Commander, Mr. Abdullahi Babale, disclosed this on Thursday while receiving the victims from the Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command.
The victims, comprising six females and four males aged between 22 and 42, were intercepted on Dec. 7 at a residence in Rijiyar Lemu Quarters, Kano.
Babale explained that the operation, led by CSP Bala Shuaibu, thwarted the victims’ intended journey to Libya, where they were reportedly being trafficked for labour exploitation.
“The rescued victims are from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun, and Lagos states,” Babale stated.
He commended the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mr. Salman Dogo-Garba, for the collaborative efforts that led to the successful rescue operation.
Babale emphasised NAPTIP’s commitment to counseling and rehabilitating the victims before reuniting them with their families.
In his remarks, the zonal commander urged parents to protect their children from falling prey to traffickers who lure individuals into slavery under the guise of promising better opportunities abroad.
He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking in their communities.
