NAF’s 470 Infrastructure Projects Has Gulped N61bn— Air Chief
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, on Sunday, said 470 ongoing infrastructure projects of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have gulped over ₦61bn at a 63 per cent completion stage.
Abubakar revealed this during the commissioning of remodelled 160-ensuite airmen’s accommodation at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Lagos.
The CAS, who stressed that improving personnel welfare remains central, also announced a 100 per cent increase in the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA) for officers in 2025.
Abubakar revealed that the NAF has committed over “N61bn to more than 470 infrastructure projects nationwide, according to the statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
“These efforts cover residential buildings, operational facilities, sporting complexes, medical centres, and places of worship,” he said, noting that “63 per cent of the projects have been completed.”
The welfare initiatives also include substantial insurance payouts under a newly introduced Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy, widespread distribution of new uniforms and accoutrements with 100 per cent coverage expected within two weeks, and an upward review of the monthly electricity subsidy at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base.
The CAS stressed, “These initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to ensuring that our personnel are well catered for in all aspects of service life.”
The Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Adeniran Ademuwagun, said the CAS embodies leadership empathy while noting that the welfare measures would significantly enhance morale and operational effectiveness.
