Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has reaffirmed his commitment to helping Nigeria secure the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title as the team continues its impressive run in Morocco.
The Atalanta forward, who has enjoyed one of the most productive tournaments of his international career, is expected to play a pivotal role when Nigeria face hosts Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final clash at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Having already scored three goals in the competition, Lookman told Footy Africa that his focus remains firmly on the present challenge, stressing that personal milestones mean little without team success.
“I’m always focused on the present, and right now the present is being here in Morocco for AFCON and trying to help my country win the tournament,” he said. “All the experiences are in the past.”
Nigeria have emerged as the tournament’s most potent attacking side, scoring 14 goals in five matches while conceding just four and keeping two clean sheets. The Eagles’ attacking threat has been driven by the trio of Victor Osimhen, Lookman and Alex Iwobi, with Akor Adams providing additional firepower.
Midfield stability and leadership have come from Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, while the defensive unit of Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi, backed by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, has provided balance as the Super Eagles push closer to continental glory.
