Lagos FRSC Commander Meets Sanwo-Olu, Seeks Stronger Traffic Collaboration

The Lagos Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kehinde Hamzat, on Friday, paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to strengthen road safety administration and improve traffic management across the state.

During a meeting, Hamzat commended the governor for the recent donation of two operational patrol vehicles and motorcycles to the FRSC and noted that the logistics support would bolster FRSC’s operations in the state.

Hamzat also spotlighted several issues plaguing traffic management, particularly the persistent gridlock around the Apapa and Lekki port corridors.

He stressed the urgent need to revisit and optimize the electronic call-up system for trucks as part of long-term decongestion measures.

Hamzat further called for joint public enlightenment campaigns, real-time data sharing with the Lagos Command and Control Room, and the revitalization of the State Road Safety Advisory Council (SARSAC) to ensure coordinated and responsive road safety strategies.

Responding, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the state government’s support for the FRSC, while acknowledging the Corps’ central role in traffic enforcement and life-saving interventions across Lagos.

“Traffic management remains a top priority of this administration. Given Lagos’ position as the economic nerve center of Nigeria, strategic collaboration among all traffic management agencies is non-negotiable,” the Governor said.

He assured the FRSC of continued government backing, promising more synergy in addressing traffic bottlenecks and enhancing road user safety.
