LAGOS: 20-Year-Old Remanded For Alleged Theft Of N16m Household Items

A 20-year-old man, Samuel Dick, has been remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly stealing household property worth N16m.
The order was issued on Tuesday by Magistrate A.O. Onalaja at the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court.
Dick, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing two-count charges of conspiracy and stealing, and he pleaded guilty to both charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Christian Okonofua, told the court that Dick committed the offences on July 24, 2023, and December 3, 2023, at two locations—No. 1 Abu-Olu Street, Crapeland Estate, and No. 1 Crapeland Estate in the Igbopa area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Okonofua alleged that Dick, alongside unidentified accomplices who are still at large, conspired to commit theft.
He noted that the stolen items reportedly included, a Thermocool refrigerator worth N450,000, a Max cooker valued at N450,000, a pumping machine worth N420,000, 12 window blinds valued at N750,000, and four chandeliers worth N1.2 million.
Other items allegedly stolen include conduit wire valued at N4 million, kitchen wire worth N1.3 million, an OX ceiling fan valued at N490,000, 12 additional conduit wires worth N2.5 million, three 6’6 mattresses valued at N900,000, and water tap accessories valued at N400,000, among others.
ASP Okonofua stated that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate Onalaja ordered Dick’s remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
The case was adjourned to January 16, 2025, for facts presentation and sentencing.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to apprehend Dick’s alleged accomplices.
