Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and a former presidential spokesman and former Director-General of Mr Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organization, Dr Doyin Okupe, have acknowledged the role of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, in ensuring energy security and economic stability.
Mutfwang said Kyari’s pragmatic leadership has revolutionized the country’s oil and gas sector.
The Plateau governor commented on Wednesday in his birthday note to the NNPC boss.
The message titled, ‘Governor Mutfwang Celebrates NNPC GCEO, Mallam Mele Kyari, On His 60th Birthday’ highlighted Kyari’s role in repositioning the NNPC as a globally competitive company.
“Mallam Kyari is an exceptional leader whose vision and foresight have significantly reshaped the NNPC and positioned it as a catalyst for national development,” the governor said in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
The Plateau governor commended Kyari’s relentless efforts in addressing critical national challenges and fostering enduring peace, unity, and cohesion in the country.
“Kyari’s pragmatic leadership style has ushered in remarkable milestones, including the resuscitation of two refineries, increased domestic natural gas consumption, and a boost in oil production.
“These achievements have contributed immensely to Nigeria’s economic stability and growth.”
Governor Mutfwang applauded Kyari’s resilience during one of the most challenging periods in Nigeria’s history.
The governor praised Kyari’s “wisdom, resilience, and unwavering dedication to excellence” as well as the GCEO’s “ability to tackle complex national issues with a commitment to bringing relief and progress to the Nigerian people.”
He added, “On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang prayed for renewed strength, good health, and divine wisdom for Kyari as he continues to undertake his noble tasks in service to the nation.”
Similarly, a former presidential spokesman, Dr Okupe, said the NNPCL under the leadership of Kyari had shamed critics.
Okupe said, “I am one of those who were critical of the NNPC and even laughed at the creation of the NNPCL. Like my former boss, President OBJ (Olusegun Obasanjo), I never thought anything good could come out of NNPCL or its leadership.
“The recent multi-faceted and dimensional achievements of the corporation have shamed us former critics and have made some of us very proud of Mele Kyari and his management team.
“The revival of our refineries and revitalisation of critical infrastructure of the industries, leading to a significant downward trend of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump prices, is worthy of commendation. I seize this opportunity to congratulate Mr Mele Kyari on his attainment of the age of 60 years.”
