Katsina Govt ready to rehabilitate repentant terrorists – Commissioner
The Katsina State government has expressed its readiness to rehabilitate terrorists who are willing to lay down their arms and embrace peace.
The Commissioner for Information, Bala Zango stated this in a chat with newsmen in Minna, Niger State while attending the quarterly meeting of Commissioners of Information of the All Progressives Congress, APC, states, hosted by the Niger State Ministry of Information with the theme, ‘Strategic Communication and Policy Alignment’.
Zango disclosed that terrorism in Katsina State has been reduced by 70 percent, with only border areas and forests remaining hotspots.
He attributed the progress made so far to the state’s efforts in combating terrorism.
The commissioner noted that while the state government maintains a zero-negotiation policy with terrorists, those willing to surrender would be accepted back into society.
According to him, “Any bandit that decides to lay down his arms and embrace peace will be rehabilitated and given support and assistance.”
The commissioner assured that repentant terrorists would receive proper education and support to reintegrate into society.
“We will rehabilitate them, give them a lot of support and proper education to make them full members of society,” he stated..
