The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has warned Fulani in the state to live in peace with their host communities and be law-abiding citizens.

The governor made the call during the inauguration of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria State Executives in Kaduna.

This was as the National President of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Baba Othman Ngelzarma, commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development Affairs out of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Ngelzarma also urged some states in the North who are yet to establish the Ministry of Livestock to do so.

“We appreciate the President for recognising the importance of the livestock sector and establishing a ministry to cater to its needs,” he said.

These were contained in a statement issued by the state Director of Media, Ibrahim Bayero-Zango and released to the media in Kaduna on Monday.

The governor emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence among the various communities in the state.

According to the statement, “The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, urged the Fulani community in Kaduna State to be law-abiding and live in peace with their neighbours.”

The governor’s call is coming against the backdrop of security challenges facing the state, particularly those affecting the Fulani community.

The Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr James Kanyip, acknowledged the challenges facing the Fulani community and urged the new leadership to be proactive in addressing them.

“The leadership has a lot of challenges before it. Presently, the Fulani name is misunderstood and blackmailed,” he said.

In his response, the Chairman of MACBAN in the state, Alhaji Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, promised to cooperate with security agencies in promoting peaceful coexistence.

“We will work closely with security agencies to address security challenges and promote peace in the state,” he said.

The MACBAN Chairman also appealed to Governor Sani to establish a Ministry of Livestock and Forestry Development Affairs to boost the socio-economic development of the sector.

“We believe that the establishment of this ministry will go a long way in promoting the socio-economic development of the livestock sector in the state,” he said.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event were Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muktar Muhammad; the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr James Kanyip; the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development Affairs, represented by his Special Adviser, Dr Sale B. Momale; and the former Governor of Kaduna State, Distinguished Sen. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi.

Other dignitaries at the event were the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Nomadic Education (NCNE), Dr Bashir Haruna, ably represented by Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Boro, a director with the commission; the representatives of the Distinguished Sen. Lawal Adamu Usman (Mr La) of the Kaduna Central Senatorial District; and Distinguished Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung of the Kaduna South Senatorial District.
