Kaduna Electric has agreed to restore power immediately, following a five-day power outage that affected Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States.

The resolution was reached after Governor Uba Sani convened a meeting on Friday with the management of Kaduna Electric and the two in-house labour unions at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

The meeting, which ended Friday night, resulted in an agreement to restore electricity to the affected states with immediate effect.

According to a statement issued after the meeting, the parties agreed to review past actions and work together to resolve the dispute.

The dispute began last Sunday when the labour unions embarked on industrial action following the management’s decision to sack 444 workers.

Governor Uba Sani, who acted as a guarantor, promised to ensure fairness to both sides and praised the unions for their understanding.

The unions, in turn, commended the management of Kaduna Electric, led by Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu, for moving the company forward.

The resolution was signed by representatives of Kaduna Electric, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC).

With the agreement to restore power, residents and businesses in the affected states can expect a return to normalcy soon.

The development is a welcome relief, especially considering the economic and security implications of the prolonged power outage.
