Injustice: Nigeria Is Doomed – Rights Group Warns

The Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign (CEBARAC) has sounded a warning to countries that thrive on social, environmental, and human rights injustices, stating that such nations are doomed to fail.

The warning was issued by Prince Wiro, National Coordinator of CEBARAC, in a goodwill message to commemorate the 2024 edition of World Human Rights Day.

According to Prince Wiro, many Nigerians have suffered environmental degradation due to the activities of multinationals in the oil exploration sector, yet they are still awaiting justice.

He emphasized that a country that denies its citizens their social rights, such as quality education, healthcare, and basic amenities, due to corrupt practices, has no future.

“Our warning is particularly relevant in Nigeria, where environmental degradation and human rights abuses are rampant,” he said

The organization stressed that for Nigeria to have a future, social, environmental, and human rights must be promoted by both the government and citizens.

He added: “Everybody must be equal before the law, regardless of status, religion, or tribe.”

Prince Wiro also emphasized that it is the right of every citizen to demand transparency and accountability from public office holders at all levels.

This, he believes, is essential to securing a better future for the country.
