Imo LGA chairperson demands apology from SDP for listing her name as woman leader

The Acting Chairperson of Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Council in Imo State, Lolo Amaka Osunde has demanded an unreserved apology from the State leadership of Social Democratic Party, SDP, over the inclusion of her name as the interim State woman leader of the party despite not being its card carrying member.

The SDP, in a recent list of its State Caretaker Committee members included the name of Osunde, who is currently the acting chairperson of Ihitte-Uboma Local Council under the APC-led administration of Hope Uzodinma.

Osunde while reacting to the list, in a press statement personally signed by her, stated that she would have ordinarily not bothered to reply to the said publication, but that in a bid to set the records straight and for the sake of protecting her image before members of the public, it is pertinent she addressed the issue.

The LGA boss remarked that there was no time in her entire political journey she had thought of joining the Social Democratic Party and wondered how her name was included in the list of its Caretaker Committee.

“I am still and will continue to be a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and will continue to align myself with the 3R mantra of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma,” she stated.

The Council Chairperson added that she has no intention of leaving the APC, or joining any other political party in the State, maintaining that she remained committed to the ideals and values of the party and will continue to be its member.

“I was never consulted before the said list was published and that has caused me great pains and embarrassment.

“I, therefore, demand an apology from the leadership of the SDP else my lawyers will be instructed to institute a legal action against the SDP.

“The mischief makers behind this irresponsible act are warned to desist from further attempt to malign my name as I will not hesitate to seek legal redress if my rights are trampled upon,” she added.
