IGP Orders Manhunt After Terrorists Kill Police Officers In Borno
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a clampdown on the criminals who attacked the Nganzai Police Division in Borno State.
The police in Borno confirmed that the attack occurred at midnight on Thursday, with two officers dead.
The police suspect the assailants to be “Boko Haram” members who attempted to invade the division but met resistance from officers.
“The terrorists threw hand grenades, which unfortunately landed on a shelter tent behind the division, fatally wounding two officers,” the Borno police revealed.
However, the IGP condemned the attack and ordered an immediate clampdown on the perpetrators.
The IGP, in a statement on Friday, condoled with the families of the deceased officers.
He affirmed that their sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten, as their benefits and entitlements will be immediately paid to their families.
Consequently, the IGP directed the Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to mobilise resources and personnel to ensure the perpetrators are found and caused to face the full wrath of the law.
“As investigations continue, the IGP reaffirms the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to holding accountable those who jeopardise and disrupt the security arrangements and safety in Nigeria,” the statement said.
