Hundeyin To Succeed Adejobi As New Force PRO

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Thursday confirmed CSP Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).

His appointment comes barely 24 hours after his predecessor, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and redeployed as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Delta State Command.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) had approved Adejobi’s elevation, with the Force Headquarters describing the redeployment as part of routine administrative procedures to strengthen operational leadership across the country.

Police authorities said his posting to Delta State, one of Nigeria’s most operationally sensitive regions, was “strategic,” placing him at the centre of tackling violent crimes, oil theft, communal clashes, and other security challenges.

Senior police sources dismissed reports that Adejobi was “controversially removed” from his spokesperson role, stressing that his elevation was neither punitive nor political.

“The deployment of officers is a normal administrative procedure in the Nigeria Police Force. DCP Adejobi’s record of professionalism, commitment, and service excellence made him a natural fit for this crucial operational responsibility,” a senior officer at the Force Headquarters told THE WHISTLER.

Adejobi’s tenure as Force PRO was marked by consistent efforts to professionalise police communication, build trust with civil society, and enhance transparency in public engagement.

His new role in Delta State requires him to coordinate tactical deployments, supervise field operations, and strengthen police-community relations.

The police hierarchy expressed confidence that Adejobi’s experience in communication and policing reforms would serve him well in addressing Delta’s complex security landscape.
