The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared three days of mourning and prayers in honour of the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who passed away on Saturday.

Aiyedatiwa made the declaration during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased on Sunday in Akure.

The SSG died in the hospital while receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a car accident.

The governor was accompanied by members of the State Executive Council (SEC), where he described Oluwatuyi as an integral figure in the politics and governance of Ondo State.

“The late Secretary to the Government of Ondo State, Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, lived a fulfilled life and made positive impacts on many people,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The three-day mourning and prayer period starts from Sunday, January 5, to Tuesday, January 7, as a mark of respect for the late SSG.

The governor extolled Oluwatuyi’s virtues and described him as a complete gentleman who carried himself with humility and dignity in both public and private life.

Speaking with the children of the deceased, who are based abroad, via video call, Aiyedatiwa assured the family of the government’s support during the challenging time.

“Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came, you lived, you performed your God-given tasks, and impacted lives. You have decided to leave us at a time we never expected, but God said it is time to come home. May you have rest at the bosom of your Creator,” the governor wrote in the condolence register.

Pastor Ayoade Babalola, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, led a special prayer session for the bereaved family, the Akure community, and the state at large.
