Fulham Coach Hails Iwobi For Scoring Brace Against Brighton

Fulham coach Marco Silva has showered encomiums on Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi following his match-winning performance against Brighton.
Iwobi scored a brace to lead Fulham to a 3-1 win over Brighton at Craven Cottage on Thursday night to continue his impressive form for the club this season.
The 28-year-old has now scored three goals, and recorded two assists in his last four Premier League matches.
He has been an important member of the Fulham squad, who moved up to sixth on the Premier League log. He has drawn praises from Silva, who has brought the best out of him in the last two seasons.
Silva said: “Alex has been outstanding from the first day of pre-season. He is in a happy place and he is a fantastic footballer.
”Last season was his best season in the Premier League and one or two months ago I said he would be even better in this one. He is really versatile and I can use him in many different positions.
“He’s a top player with the way he can assist and score goals more than ever. What a game for him and he deserved all the credit.
Iwobi is targeting more goals for Fulham, while hailing his teammates for the win against Brighton.
He said: “We wanted to get a win on the board after our last game against Spurs. No better place to do it than at our place. I should be getting more goals but it was good to them for the team.
“We know Brighton like to play and so do we. I was able to capitalise on the high press.
“We know that Brighton like to play out from the back so we came up with a structure and it obviously worked for the first goal. We take it, however, it goes in, a goal is a goal. we wanted a goal from a set piece because we were a real threat last season.”
Iwobi’s first goal in the fourth minute is Fulham’s earliest Premier League goal since August 2023 against Arsenal (first minute) and their earliest at home since August 2022 against Brentford.
He has now scored five goals and earned three assists in 14 Premier League games for Fulham this season.
The former Arsenal star will be aiming to continue his rich vein of form when Fulham welcome the Gunners to Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Fulham currently occupies the sixth position on the log with 22 points from 14 games.
