Four killed in hit-and-run accident in Ogun
A deadly hit-and-run accident in the early hours of Monday killed four persons along the Oke Iganmu axis of Ilaro, Ogun State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, confirmed the incident, which occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. The accident involved a yellow tricycle with registration number DED425WB and an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the collision.
In a statement issued by FRSC Public Education Officer, Mrs Florence Okpe, on behalf of the Ogun State Sector Commander, Mr Akinwumi Fasakin, it was revealed that officers from the Ilaro Unit Command responded swiftly to a distress call. Upon arrival, they discovered that two male and two female adults had died at the scene.
The remains of the victims have been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary in Ilaro.
Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed and reckless driving were contributing factors to the crash.
While expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the sector commander urged motorists to prioritise safety on the roads, warning that irresponsible driving continues to cost innocent lives.
