Four Nigerian athletes have been invited to participate in the West African Invitational Championship in Accra, Ghana, on March 15.

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation extended this prestigious invitation following the athletes’ outstanding performances at the National Open Armwrestling Championship in Ibadan. The selected athletes are:

Men’s Category:

Tuesday, Emmanuel Inakedor (70 kg)

Obilom Steve Chibueze (90kg+)

Women’s Category:

Afeniforo Adefunke Adejoke (65 kg)

The Nigerian team is expected to depart the country on Thursday, March 13, and return on Monday, March 17.

This international opportunity is a major boost for Nigerian Armwrestling, as the country continues to establish itself as a dominant force in the sport.

President of the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, Engr. Samuel Jackson was full of praise for the athletes.

He said, “This invitation is proof that our athletes are among the best in Africa. Their performances in Ibadan were incredible, and we are confident they will make Nigeria proud in Ghana. This will also serve as a great preparation for the upcoming African Armwrestling Championship in Abuja.”

Obilom Steve Chibueze, who dominated the +90kg category, could not hide his excitement while promising to give his all in the tournament.

He said, “I am honoured to be selected. This is a great opportunity to compete internationally and showcase Nigerian strength. I will give my best and bring home victory.”

Similarly, Afeniforo Adefunke Adejoke, who won two gold medals at the National Open Championship, described the invitation as a dream come true.

She said, “This invitation is a dream come true. It shows that dedication and hard work pay off. I will do everything possible to represent Nigeria with pride.”

The athletes will be aiming to impress in Ghana to continue their steady rise in African Armwrestling.
