Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has vowed to push Marcus Rashford to greater heights following his match-winning performance against Newcastle United in the Champions League.
Rashford scored a brace to lead Barcelona to a 2-1 win over Newcastle United to hand the Blaugrana the maximum points.
Ahead of their La Liga clash against Getafe on Sunday, Flick has reiterated his plans to help Rashford rediscover his form.
He said, “I said it before the match; after the match, I totally believe in his quality, but you always have to work hard and every day get better.
“You have to learn… what is necessary, what we need from him, and I will push him 100 per cent and also support him.”
The German manager also revealed that Lamine Yamal has been ruled out of the clash on Sunday while backing him to win the Ballon d’Or later in the future.
Flick said, “With Lamine, we have to wait day by day. I think one day we will see that Lamine gets this trophy.
“But in the end, for me, it’s like (showing) respect to be there because we are nominated, and we will see.
“Everyone who gets this trophy deserves it, so for me, I just want to enjoy it and show respect also to the winners. This, for me, is crucial.”
The German was clear that the collective comes above the individual. “We’ve only just started the season, and we need everyone. Some players might not be happy with their current role, but this is about the team. When you play, you have to show what you can do, but what matters is the success of the group.
Barcelona have won three out of their first four games of the season in the league with 10 points.
