This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, SSA, Prince Enobong Uwah in Uyo, on Wednesday.

The SSG said the decision was to enable Akwa Ibom people and other well-wishers pay their last respects to the late first lady of the state.

Mrs Patience Eno who passed away in September this year after a brief sickness, will be laid to rest at her husband’s hometown, the governor, in Ikot Ekpene Udo, in Nsit-Ibium Local government area of the state on November 29.

The statement read, “Further to the final home-going programme of our departed First Lady, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, the Akwa Ibom State Government in consultation with the bereaved family has declared Friday, 29th November 2024, a work-free day in honour of our dear mother.

“This is to enable Akwa-Ibomites to pay their last respect to our mother at her obsequies in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of the state on that day.
