FG Warns Of Fake Shortlists For NCoS, NIS, FFS, NSCDC Jobs
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has refuted claims that it has begun shortlisting candidates for its ongoing recruitment exercise, and warned applicants to disregard fake messages circulating online.
In a post shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the board emphasised that the recruitment portal remains open and that shortlisting has not yet commenced.
“We are yet to commence shortlisting. The portal is still collecting applications until Monday, 11th August 2025. Beware of fraudsters,” the CDCFIB stated.
This comes in response to fraudulent messages circulating across social media platforms and messaging apps, falsely claiming that recipients had been shortlisted for employment under the CDCFIB and requesting payment of N1,250 for a so-called consultancy clearance.
One of such messages reads, “You have been shortlisted as a suitable candidate after a review of your CV/application submitted recently… Your consultancy clearance would determine your posting letter for employment at any of the four (4) agencies.”
The scam directs unsuspecting applicants to pay the fee to a fictitious “Federal Government Human Resource Consultant,” promising them a provisional offer of appointment and a posting letter within two weeks after payment and verification.
The CDCFIB has dissociated itself from the messages and reiterated that it has not authorised any third-party communication requesting payments for recruitment processing.
While reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the board reminded the public that the entire recruitment process is free of charge at all stages.
“Please note that the recruitment process is absolutely FREE at all stages,” the board stressed.
The board also urged applicants to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to scammers seeking to exploit their aspirations.
The board noted that the warning is especially critical given previous incidents in which unsuspecting Nigerians were defrauded by individuals posing as government recruitment agents.
The CDCFIB launched its 2025 recruitment exercise in mid-July after initial delays. The process, which covers vacancies in four federal paramilitary agencies and the board — the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) – was initially scheduled to begin on June 26 but was postponed and eventually commenced on July 14.
It stated that applications are being received exclusively through the official recruitment portal: www.cdcfib.gov.ng.
Available positions are spread across three major cadres —General Duty (Superintendent), Inspectorate, and Assistant, with each category requiring specific academic and physical qualifications.
To qualify, applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged 18–35, physically and medically fit, with no criminal or financial record. There are also minimum height and chest measurement requirements.
The application portal, which was closed briefly due to technical issues, was reopened on July 21. The application deadline has since been extended from August 4 to August 11, 2025.
Applicants were advised to rely solely on official CDCFIB channels for updates and to report any suspicious activity or fraudulent messages to the appropriate authorities.
