Federal Poly Nekede Restricts Religious Activities Over Security Concerns

The management of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri has limited movement and religious activities for its students and Polytechnic community especially at the back gate area of the campus on Monday the 7th of July.
This was contained in a memo signed by the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Mary N. Unegbu on behalf of the Registrar.
She said that the measures were taken because of security purposes and revealed that the back gate will be locked at 6pm on Monday.
She further advised all religious activities in the campus on Monday to end before 5:45 to enable students to exit the school premises before 6pm as security personnels will be deployed on the said day to maintain law and order in the campus.
She said: “This is to inform the Polytechnic Community, particularly students and all churches operating within the campus that the back gate will be locked at 6:00pm on Monday, 7th July, 2025 for security purposes.
“Consequently, all church activities are required to end before 5:45pm on that day to allow students and other worshipers to exit the campus in an orderly and timely manner before 6:00pm.
“Please, be informed that security patrols would be intensified across the campus throughout that evening to ensure maintenance of law and order.
“All students are hereby requested to comply fully with this directive.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this regard.”
