FCT Resident Doctors Begin Indefinite Strike

The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration on Monday began an indefinite strike.

This was disclosed in a communique issued by the association president, Dr. George Ebong, and the General Secretary, Dr. Agbor Affiong, on Monday.

The association had embarked on a seven-day warning strike on Monday, September 8, to press home its demands, following months of unresolved negotiations with the FCTA.

THE WHISTLER reports that the warning strike had disrupted services in public hospitals across the FCT, as patients were left stranded at Asokoro General Hospital during its visit.

The association is demanding urgent intervention in areas like manpower shortages, non-functional equipment, poor working conditions, and unpaid staff allowances.

It also raised concerns over unpaid salaries, delayed promotions, and underpayment of promoted staff, urging the government to act swiftly to boost healthcare worker morale and restore service efficiency.
