FCT Police Raid Drug Spots, Arrest Eight
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested eight suspects following a raid on four major areas in the city
The raid, executed on Thursday, was led by the operatives of the command’s anti-narcotics unit.
The raids targeted identified hotspots across the FCT.
“These locations were known to be used by criminal elements for the sale and consumption of illicit drugs and substances,” the police said in a statement on Thursday.
The areas covered during the raids include: SDP Junction, Gwagwalada; Lugbe Federal Housing, by Tipper Garage; Wuse Zone 5, by Access Bank and AYA Roundabout.
The statement signed by the spokesperson of the command, Josephine Adeh noted that during the operation, suspects at the respective locations attempted to flee on sighting the police.
This led to the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of the following exhibits: 100 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and a substantial amount of encapsulated illicit drugs.
The statement said, “These operations highlight the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
“The FCT Police Command remains resolute in its fight against the menace of illicit drug activities within the Federal Capital Territory.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, urges members of the public to continue supporting the police by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
