Fatal Accident Claims Four Lives In Rivers

A devastating motor accident occurred on May 12, 2025, at approximately 11:42 PM along G.U. Ake Road, resulting in the tragic deaths of four pedestrians.
The accident involved a Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ 10 EM, driven by 36-year-old Benson Peter Michael, who lost control of the vehicle and collided with six pedestrians.
According to the Rivers State Police Command, two pedestrians sustained injuries and were rushed to the Rivers State University Hospital for medical attention.
The police said the driver of the vehicle is currently in their custody, and the accidented vehicle has been recovered and taken to the station.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-koko, disclosed this in a press release, saying the Command has deposited the corpses of the deceased at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Mortuary.
Iringe-Koko stated that the case will be transferred to the State Traffic Department for further investigation to determine the cause of the accident and ensure justice is served.
She added that the Command expressed deep regret over the incident and assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice while assuring the public of the Command’s dedication to road safety and security.
