Former Manchester United midfielder, Michael Appleton has rejected a job offer to return to Old Trafford as the club’s new loan manager.

Appleton came through the Red Devils academy.

The 48-year-old spent five years at United from 1992 to 1997 before he joined Preston in a permanent transfer.

He was most recently in charge of League One club Charlton Athletic before the Addicks sacked him in January.

However, Appleton is currently out of work, but according to the Daily Mail, he recently had the opportunity to become Man United’s loan manager.

But he turned down his old club’s offer.

Man United will now find someone else to fill the role in the near future.
