Ex-INEC chairman Jega loses wife, Hadiza

Ex-INEC chairman Jega loses wife, Hadiza

Wife of former Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has passed away.

In a statement shared on Bayero University official social media page, the university said, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega.”

The institution disclosed that her Janazah prayer would take place immediately after Zuhr at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Sunday, 5th April 2026.

BUK also prayed for the repose of the deceased, saying, “May Allah grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and forgive her shortcomings. May He also grant the family the strength and patience to bear this loss. Ameen.”
