EPL: Tony Adams names striker Arsenal should have signed instead of Gyokeres

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has insisted that his former club should have signed Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins instead of Viktor Gyokeres.

Recall that Arsenal recently signed Gyokeres from Sporting CP in this summer transfer window, despite being linked with Watkins.

Speaking during an Indo Sport season preview, Adams said as quoted by Metro UK: “The Portuguese lad [Gyokeres], I don’t know yet. He’s not tried and tested.

“I would have liked to have seen them get Ollie Watkins to be honest with you.

“He is a Gooner, he might have given us a year and we might have won the title.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal will begin their new Premier League campaign this weekend, facing Manchester United at Old Trafford in their opening game.
