EPL: Howe keeps door open for Isak’s Newcastle return

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has stated that the door remains open for striker Alexander Isak to be reintegrated into his squad.

Howe also expressed hope that the situation surrounding Isak’s future will be resolved promptly.

Isak was omitted from Newcastle’s squad that played to a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday, as the Swedish forward is reportedly keen to force a move to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old’s absence was felt, as Newcastle squandered several chances in the first half against Aston Villa.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Howe emphasised the need for clarity regarding Isak’s current situation.

“Nothing has changed,” Howe said. “The door is well and truly open. He has to decide what he wants to do.

“We would like a resolution. We need that clarity. You don’t need any kind of distraction. I am not in control of that. There is one person who can control that.

“Let’s wait and see. I have made my stance clear. I am concentrating on the team.”
