EPL: He’s too anxious – Bent wants Arteta not to start Arsenal star against Man City

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent wants Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta not to start Gabriel Martinelli over Raheem Sterling in the Gunners’ left flank against Manchester City this weekend.

Bent believes Martinelli is too anxious, adding that Sterling should start ahead of the Brazilian against Man City on Sunday.

Both teams will clash in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.

“Martinelli did himself no favours [against Atalanta in the URFa Champions League]. He [Arteta] can play [Gabriel] Jesus out there but he looks lacking,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“I think that is the only place or position [left flank] where you go, ‘if he picks Martinelli fair enough, if he picks Sterling you go fair enough’. I’m going Sterling,” he said.

“Martinelli right now, I think he got six goals last season, did you see his chance [against Atalanta]?

“A lack of confidence, he is almost too anxious to get in there.”
