EPL: Deeney rates Chelsea’s chances of winning title after lifting Club World Cup trophy
Ex-Watford captain, Troy Deeney, is backing Chelsea to be one of the contenders for the Premier League crown next season.
Deeney believes that Enzo Maresca’s team has what it takes to compete with Liverpool and Arsenal.
But according to him, the Blues need to add “two or three signings” to their squad.
Only last night, Chelsea pulled off a stunning 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final.
This has raised belief that Chelsea could go on and be crowned English champions for the first time since 2017.
Deeney told talkSPORT: “I’d go for a goalkeeper, an experienced centre-half and a full-back. That for me is a perfect team.
“They’re going to have to rest and recover.
“I think later on in the season this may take a toll but I expect them now to be looking at going deep into the Champions League.
“They can win the FA Cup and absolutely they can be up there with Arsenal trying to push on with Liverpool.”
