Eddie Hearn Offers Hope for Long-Awaited Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury Showdown
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has given boxing fans fresh optimism over the long-discussed Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury mega-fight, suggesting that negotiations are moving in the right direction.
Hearn shared a photo of himself with the president of Riyadh Season and the chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority following extended talks in Riyadh, which he claims included discussions about boxing and other sports.
However, the Matchroom chairman stated that the eagerly anticipated heavyweight contest between Joshua and Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) was a top priority when Louis Hart of The Ring questioned him about the meeting.
“He wants to make AJ against Fury, that’s no secret,” Hearn said of Alalshikh. “He wants to make the biggest fights in the sport, and that is the biggest fight in boxing right now. We’ve got to agree our end and then it’s up to Turki whether he can get Fury in the ring.”
The potential bout, long considered one of the biggest fights in British boxing history, has repeatedly faltered over financial splits, TV rights, and scheduling issues.
However, with Joshua back in form after recent wins and Fury eager to reassert himself at the top of the division, hopes are rising that the long-awaited clash could finally be staged in 2026.
