E-call-up: Lagos sets November 10 deadline for NUPENG compliance

The Lagos State Government has given the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) until November 10 to comply with the e-call-up guidelines.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

The statement was signed by Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation.

Osiyemi, alongside the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Olawale Musa, earlier summoned officials of NUPENG to a meeting over non-compliance with the e-call-up operational guidelines.

The commissioner stated that failure to comply with the guidelines would result in enforcement measures.

“This meeting centered on NUPENG’s disregard for the online booking system, which has led to cash collections and trucks parking willy-nilly on the roads.

“This chaos is not only clogging the Lekki-Epe corridor but also compromising the efficiency of the entire system,” he said.

Reiterating the process of the e-call-up system, the commissioner said trucks require validation and clearance before entering designated parks, a simple process that NUPENG seems to be sidestepping.

NUPENG officials, in their responses, promised to engage their members in carrying out the order and also attend to other issues raised.
