Dropbox Acquires AI Startup Reclaim.ai to Boost Tech Infrastructure

Dropbox has purchased Reclaim.ai, a Portland, Oregon-based firm that utilises artificial intelligence to help businesses prioritise work and organise calendars through a calendar app.

The development was revealed by the founders on Reclaim.ai’s website on Tuesday.

Reclaim’s technology employs artificial intelligence to help users better manage their time, locate appropriate meeting times, and balance activities with personal habits and breaks.

Henry Shapiro and Patrick Lightbody created Reclaim.ai in 2019, and it has already achieved substantial traction in the productivity area.

The company stated that it is committed to providing continued support for all users.

According to the blog post, the application is used by over 43,000 companies and 320,000 workers throughout the world.

“As part of the Dropbox team, we’re going to continue investing in the Reclaim you know and love. Expect to continue seeing new features and updates that further enhance the product experience, with no planned changes to pricing or customer support anytime soon.”

Newsng gathered that to date, the firm has raised more than $9.5 million from investors such as Calendly, and Character.vc, Flying Fish, Gradient Ventures, Index Ventures, Operator Partners, Yummy Ventures, Grafana CEO Raj Dutt, and former GitHub CTO Jason Warner.

“We started Reclaim by focusing on the calendar because we believed – and still do – that it’s perhaps the most critical system that individuals, teams, and companies have for both understanding what’s being worked on and for taking action,” the startup wrote explaining how the firm was founded.

“We also believe that it only gets better with increased intelligence, automation, and humanity.”

In a video uploaded on X, the founders of Reclaim.ai announced that their whole 22-person team is joining Dropbox.

“The Dropbox mission is to ‘design a more enlightened way of working’ – a goal we’ve shared since Reclaim began in 2019. By joining forces, we get to support that mission and help millions make time for what matters, as well as explore new ways AI can help improve the way we work,” Reclaim.ai also wrote in the post.

We earlier reported that AMD announced that it will pay $4.9 billion for server vendor ZT Systems as part of its strategy to extend its portfolio of artificial intelligence chips and gear and compete with Nvidia.
