DeltaHawk Accused Of Assaulting Man

Residents of Delta State have accused the Operation DeltaHawk/DeltaSweep Joint Security team of abandoning their mandate to protect lives and instead harassing innocent civilians.

According to locals, the security operatives brutally assaulted Mr Moses Hujionye, a resident of Ute Okpu, Ika North East Local Government Area, without any crime or wrongdoing.

The residents claim that the security team has been targeting young people on the streets, while kidnappers continue to plague the area.

Former Delta State governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society and Youth Mobilisation, Harrison Gwamnishu, while sharing the update on Facebook, alleged that Hujionye was beaten without any reasonable offence.

“While kidnappers torment us, the Delta State Joint Security Team Operation Sweep harasses us on the road.

“The Operation DeltaHawk/DeltaSweep left their Standard Operating Procedures, and their mandate is to harass young people on the street.

“Look at what they did to Mr Moses Hujionye from Ute Okpu, Ika North East LGA.

“Till this moment, they can’t point out one crime Mr Moses committed.

“The armed Fulani kidnappers are still inside our bush, and the people giving the resources to protect lives are inflicting injuries on innocent civilians.

“A picture posted by the activist showed the back of the victim with bruises with a forced haircut,” he posted.

The pictures sparked outrage, with many demanding justice for the victim and an end to the alleged harassment.

The residents called on the security team to focus on addressing the kidnapping menace rather than targeting innocent civilians.
