Delta North 2027: No room for olden days politics – Sen Nwoko

Declares For Reelection Into 11th Senate

By Egufe Yafugborhi & Ochuko Akuopha

ASABA – SENATOR Ned Nwoko on Friday declared to run for 2027 reelection into the 11th Senate to maintain the Delta North Senatorial seat in the National Assembly for sustained gainful service to Anioma people.

Acompanied by former Deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, Sen Nwoke who declared his reelection bid on arrival at the Asaba Airport emphasised that though the race is a free contest, Delta North People are resolved not to give room for “olden days politics”.

Nwoko in self appraisal said he has done well in serving his people by taking up the Anioma cause at every level and it was only proper to continue in office in addressing the people’s problems.

He told newsmen, “I want to announce publicly that I am returning to the 11th Senate on behalf of the Anioma people, Delta North.

“I’ve done what we were meant to do. I’ve done well as a Senator, taken up Anioma cause at every level and spoken fearlessly onbehalf of the People.

“I stand for the people all the time. The people of Anioma know who I am and I know their problems. These are things I’ve been addressing.”

On the quest for Anioma state, Nwoko said, “You heard the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, when he was here last month. He made a public announcement and I stand with that.

“Anioma state would be created with capital in Asaba and there will be Delta state with capital wherever they want it. And you can see I’m here with the former Deputy Senate President, Sen Omo-Agege.”

On how well he enjoys President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support, the Delta North Senator affirmed, “The President is my President.

“I joined him before anybody else because I believe in him. He’s doing very well nationally. He will be reelected and we’re working together at every level.”

On chances at reelection, Nwoko said, “It’s a contest. Everybody is free to contest. And so we’re ready. And we shall see.”

To his supporter who thronged the Asaba Airport to welcome him, the senator urged, “Remain steadfast. This is no the time to go back to politics of olding days. This is time for them to build on what I’ve established, which is working for the people, understanding what they need.

“For example I’ve been pushing for the stepdown (power) at Okpai Power Plant. We must have light in Anioma Land. We must have water. Ogwashi-Ukwu Dam must be completed, not just digging boreholes everywhere.

“We must have the Coastal Road, from Koko, Asaba, all the way to Aboh and towards Patani, South of Delta.

“Then the university here in Asaba, that is the Federal College, Technical. Do you know we have done everything possible for it to be upgraded to a university?

“These are some of my own ways of looking at how to empower our people. I’ve the Sports University in Delta. Half of the students there are on scholarship.

“I can’t have 500 students on scholarship and you talk about empowerment. That is the best form of empowerment you can give to the people.”

Nwoko and Omo-Agege proceeded from the airport to Obio to grace the funeral of former Delta State Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue who was being lay to rest.
