A 13-year-old Nigerian girl, Anu Adeleke, has publicly appealed to Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to undergo a DNA test to determine her paternity, reigniting a long-running and controversial dispute.
The appeal quickly gained traction on social media after Anu shared her story, describing years of uncertainty surrounding her identity and the emotional toll of public scrutiny.
In her message, the teenager expressed deep distress over the unresolved paternity claims, stating that the prolonged dispute has affected her mental well-being and sense of belonging.
Responding swiftly on X (formerly Twitter), Davido denied the claim, insisting that he is not Anu’s father and asserting that multiple DNA tests had already cleared him.
The singer stated that he had undergone five DNA tests at different hospitals, all of which reportedly returned negative results, and accused Anu’s mother of deliberately prolonging the controversy.
Davido further alleged that the claims were malicious, calling for legal consequences against the girl’s mother, whom he accused of spreading falsehoods and damaging his reputation.
However, representatives and supporters of Anu’s mother disputed Davido’s account, claiming that only one DNA test was conducted several years ago and that the process was compromised.
According to the mother’s side, the test was allegedly carried out without proper supervision, and they are now demanding a fresh, transparent DNA test conducted at a mutually agreed and credible medical facility.
The renewed disagreement has been fuelled by leaked chats and conflicting testimonies circulating online, further polarising public opinion and drawing intense media attention.
Observers note that the controversy underscores the broader issues surrounding paternity disputes, social media trials, and the impact such public battles can have on minors.
As the story continues to evolve, calls have grown for restraint from all parties involved, with many urging that the matter be resolved privately and with the best interests of the child placed above public discourse.
