The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on Wednesday, unveiled the Power Sector Communications Team (PSCT) to improve communication between the power sector and the public.

The PSCT, which comprises media managers from the Ministry of Power and its affiliated agencies, is intended to bridge the information gap between the sector and the public.

Inaugurating the committee in Abuja, Adelabu said its members are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring clear, consistent, and transparent communication.

“This is a significant milestone in our efforts to illuminate Nigeria. Effective communication is essential for any successful enterprise, and the power sector is no different. The PSCT is our response to the complexities and challenges faced by this sector”, he said.

He said that the PSCT represents a commitment to high standards of communication, aimed at transforming the power sector into a catalyst for national development.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the PSCT, Mr.Bolaji Tunji, emphasized the importance of effective communication in building trust and reliability.

Tunji, who is also the special adviser to the minister on strategic communications and media relations, said the team’s goal, among others, is to provide consistent and transparent information to reshape the public’s perception of the power sector.

“We must communicate effectively with all stakeholders to build trust and gain their support. In today’s digital era, leveraging technology to reach people through various media channels is more crucial than ever,” he said.

Also, the Director of Information and Public Relations at the ministry, Dibiaezue-Eke Florence, described the inauguration of the PSCT as a milestone.

She noted that the team will help the ministry and its agencies better convey their programmes and policies to the public to support the ongoing reforms and transformations in the power sector.
