Jimin Geoffrey, ex-Senior Special Assistant on Media to the former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has decried continuous unprovoked attack on Benue people by armed Fulani herdsmen.

Jimin told DAILY POST that despite President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the state after the bloodbath in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of the state, the assailants have continued to launch attacks.

Jimin, a native of Guma said on Saturday, 21st June, 2025, four persons were murdered at various locations in Makurdi and Guma, including Tse Ati as well as Uda Yagba and Tse-Kator in Guma.

He further stated that on Sunday, 19th June, 2025, four Mobile Police Personnel were gruesomely murdered by our harvesters at Udei in the same Guma LGA.

Similarly, on July 2nd, the bloodthirsty elements attacked the Kwaghgba village where at least three persons were gruesomely murdered.

Again, on Thursday, 3rd July, 2025, the militia herders launched another attack in Ukohol village, Guma LGA, killing at least three villagers.

The bloodbath, according to Jimin shifted to Tse-Anundu, Udei on Friday, 4th July, 2025, where Mr. Nomsoor Anundu paid the supreme price, stressing that two other persons “were shot and are being treated”.

DAILY POST reports that President Tinubu had during his visit on June 18, 2025, directed the Chief of Defense Staff and the Inspector General of Police to “get those criminals out.”

He also directed the Directors General, Nigerian Intelligence Agency, NIA, and State Security Service, SSS, to retool their information channels in order to get “tangible intelligence that this will not occur again.”

However, our correspondent gathered that the security situation in Guma and other rpaets of the state has remained the same.

“The terrorists have occupied our deserted farmlands and homes from where they go out to harvest any life that dares go to the backyard for farming activities.

“With the ease which the terrorists operate and go back unchallenged, I am afraid another massacre may be lurking around the corner in Benue.

“I wish to state unequivocally that the “Renewed Hope” Mr President promised Nigerians during the electioneering campaigns, for us in Benue, what has reached us is RECURRENT DEATHS.

“We die everyday, everywhere and anytime it pleases our harvesters who planted us in this part of the world. Security agents who are deployed to secure us are not spared from the killing spree.

“Numerous persons, including children who survived various attacks are still being treated in different hospitals even as the gun wielding terrorists continue to make frantic efforts to attack more villages in Benue unchecked”, he said.
