Civil Defence Officers In Fatal Crash Along Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway

Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, have been reported to be involved in a tragic accident this afternoon, Monday, September 15, 2025, along the Enugu–Port Harcourt expressway.

Eyewitnesses said the crash was severe, leaving multiple casualties at the scene. As of the time of filing this report, at least one death has been confirmed, though details regarding the number of victims and the cause of the accident remain sketchy.

Efforts to get an official reaction from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Doreen Udugwu, proved abortive, as calls and messages were not responded to.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but emergency responders were seen evacuating the victims and clearing the road to ease traffic congestion caused by the crash.

More details shortly…
