On this year’s Children’s Day celebration, the Rivers Civil Society Organizations (RIVCSO) led a poignant and peaceful protest at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt, demanding justice for 12-year-old Favour Oluwaseyi Oluwatofunmi, who was kidnapped on August 7, 2024.
The protest was attended by Favour’s family and loved ones, highlighting the community’s deep concern for the missing child.
Favour was reportedly lured from her father’s home by a friend, leading to her abduction.
Despite the family providing substantial evidence, including tracing a ransom account to a suspect currently incarcerated in Enugu, they continue to seek answers regarding her whereabouts.
The emotional toll on her family was evident, as her parents were seen crying helplessly during the protest, a heartbreaking scene that resonated with all present.
In response to the growing outcry, police authorities assured the protesters of swift action within two weeks, promising to bring all involved parties in for questioning.
Barituka Loanyie, the Public Relations/Spokesperson for RIVCSO, stated, “We will hold them to their word, but if nothing is done, we will mobilize for a massive protest until Favour is safely reunited with her family.”
