Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given injury updates ahead of their first Champions League clash of the season against Athletic Bilbao.

Bukayo Saka is expected to miss the trip to Spain as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.

Saka has not played for the Gunners since their 5-0 win over Leeds United last month.

Arteta has now confirmed that the 23-year-old will not be fit to face Athletic.

Saka joins Ben White, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in missing the game through injury.

Arteta told reporters on Monday: “There’s still quite a lot of things to go through. Very difficult to understand what week he is going to be available He will most certainly be pushing to be available as soon as possible.”
