Buhari: Yobe govt declares public holiday to mourn ex-President
The government of Yobe has declared Tuesday 15th July 2025 a work free day in the state to mourn former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the public holiday on Monday, after the news of Buhari’s death was announced on Sunday. He died in a London hospital, following an ailment.
Buni wants workers and the people of the state to dedicate the day to pray for the repose of the soul of the former president.
He charged Imams to make good use of the day to pray in their respective mosques for the late president.
“He was a leader who did so much to ensure return of security to Yobe State and the North East in general, he deserve this special honour from the people of the state” Governor Buni said.
Earlier, Gov. Buni, in a condolence message, described late Buhari as a great patriot who spent most of his life working for the unity and progress of Nigeria.
He said Buhari was a disciplinarian, a leader with integrity, and a leader with unlimited passion for the development of the nation.
The Governor prayed to almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him aljannah.
Governor Buni condoled with President Bola Ahmed TinubU, the family of the late former president, Katsina State government, Daura Emirate and Nigerians in general over the huge and monumental loss.
