Bournemouth Stun Tottenham with Dominant 1-0 Victory at N17

Bournemouth delivered a masterclass performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, claiming a stunning 1-0 victory that left Spurs fans stunned and manager Ange Postecoglou with serious questions to answer.

The Cherries made the perfect start to their North London visit, taking the lead after just five minutes when Evanilson’s effort deflected past Guglielmo Vicario to silence the home crowd.

The Brazilian striker nearly doubled the advantage moments later, finding space on the edge of the area but dragging his shot narrowly wide.

What followed was a dominant display from Andoni Iraola’s side, who completely outplayed their hosts in every department. The visitors should have extended their lead early in the second half when Evanilson was denied by a close-range save from Vicario, before David Brooks struck the crossbar in what proved to be Bournemouth’s best chance to seal the victory.

Tottenham’s struggles were laid bare by the statistics – they failed to register a single shot in the first half and managed just five attempts across the entire 90 minutes, compared with Bournemouth’s 19. The expected goals figures painted an even starker picture, with Spurs recording a meagre 0.17 to Bournemouth’s commanding 1.45.

The home side’s only genuine opportunity came in the dying moments when Destiny Udogie connected with a free kick, but his header drifted wide of the target, summing up a frustrating afternoon for the hosts.

The only concern for Iraola was an early injury to Adam Smith, who appeared to suffer a hamstring problem and was forced off, potentially ruling him out of upcoming fixtures.

Saturday’s victory for Bournemouth marks a statement win that will boost confidence as they continue to establish themselves in the top flight under Iraola’s progressive management.

The result leaves Spurs with much to ponder ahead of their next fixture, while Bournemouth can celebrate a memorable afternoon in North London that showcased their potential to trouble any opponent on their day.
