Bayern Munich Open Club World Cup Campaign With 10-0 Win Over Auckland City
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich opened their FIFA World Club Cup campaign with an emphatic 10-0 victory over New Zealand’s Auckland City on Sunday.
The Bavarians produced a clinical performance to brush aside Auckland City to record the biggest win in the history of the competition.
Auckland City’s squad was made up of estate agents and teachers, part-timers, and the gap in quality was evident from the start of the whistle.
Kompany’s men recorded a game-high 31 shots compared to just one by their opponents on their way to the record-setting victory.
Jamal Musiala came off the bench to score a hat-trick and the trio of Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller, and Michael Olise all scored a brace respectively.
Bayern Munich took the lead through Kingsley Coman in the sixth minute, while Sasha Boey scored the second goal in the 18th minute, and Michael Olise scored the third goal in the 20th minute.
In the 22nd minute, Coman scored the fourth goal, while Thomas Müller scored the fifth goal in the 45th minute, and then Michael Olise added the sixth goal for the Bavarians in the 45+3 minute.
Jamal Musiala scored a hat-trick in the 68th, 73rd, and 84th minutes, while Thomas Müller scored the tenth goal in the 89th minute.
However, Harry Kane failed to find the back of the net in the encounter before he was replaced by Jamal Musiala in the 61st minute.
Up next for Bayern Munich in the competition is a clash against Boca Juniors on Saturday while Auckland City will take on Benfica on Friday.
In the first match of the day, Inter Miami played out a 0-0 draw with Egypt’s Ah Ahly.
