The Bayelsa state government has solicited the assistance of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore public power supply after an electricity tower was reportedly vandalised in Ahoada, Rivers state.

It was gathered that months of power outage had affected businesses in the state while the repair of the vandalised towers was expected to be completed with many of the residents calling on the TCN to complete the process of restoring power soonest.

According to Dr Kola Oredipe, an aide to the Bayelsa State governor on new media, the governor has “supported TCN to fix all vandalised towers in Igbogene community, Ahoada Local Government Area of Rivers State, adding that it was “over to TCN to restore power to Bayelsa.”

Meanwhile , the state government has warned those planting crops on the road median and embankment of the right of way of major roads in the state capital to remove them immediately.

The affected roads are Glory Drive Phase 2, Igbogen/AIT Outer road and others, according to the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Moses Teibowei.

“By this notice, those who planted crops on the embankment of these major roads are hereby given a seven-day ultimatum to remove their crops.

“Failure to do that, the government will remove or destroy the crops for the good of the roads,’’ the commissioner said.
