Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested five persons, including two women, in connection with alleged drug trafficking in the Unguwar Tudun Wadan Dan’iyaa area of Bauchi metropolis.

The suspects, Adamu Muhammed (35), Mrs Okwudili Chikezic (50), Sunday Anaco (25), Miss Maryam Ahmed (20), all residents of Bayan Gari, and Tijjani Adamu (20), a resident of Miri in Bauchi Local Government Area, were arrested on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the arrests were made during an operation by the Command Monitoring Unit, acting on intelligence. The operation was led by CSP Abdulrazak Pada.

Wakil disclosed that a thorough search of several shops in the area resulted in the recovery of various controlled and prohibited substances.

Exhibits recovered include 30 sachets of Tramadol tablets, 22 bottles of assorted ICE syrups, 3 Penta injections, 10 sachets of Diazepam tablets, and 5 ICE bunkers.

“The suspects have confessed to their involvement in drug trafficking and have expressed willingness to assist the police with ongoing investigations,” the statement read.

The PPRO confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody and will be profiled and arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police, Bauchi Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers for their prompt and coordinated response.

He also ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure that justice is served.

The Police Command urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and educate the youth on the dangers of drug abuse and criminal behaviour.

“By working together, we can preserve the peace in our communities and raise awareness about the serious health risks associated with illegal substances,” the statement stressed.

Wakil noted that investigations into the network will continue as authorities intensify efforts against drug trafficking in the state.
