The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has suspended two Permanent Secretaries and a Chief Executive Officer from the State Civil Service over allegations of serious misconduct.

The Permanent Secretaries suspended were Sa’idu Abubakar, the immediate past State Accountant general (AG), Danjuma Garba, and Bala Ibrahim Sabo, the Chief Executive Officer (Accounts).

The suspension was considered during the commission’s 1st extraordinary sitting held on Monday, September 30, effective September 27th, 2024.

It was announced in a statement signed and issued to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday by the Commission’s Information Officer, Saleh Umar.

According to the statement, the Commission arrived at the decision after reviewing the recommendations and other available documents on the affected officers submitted by the office of the State Head of Civil Service during the session.

“The State head of Service recommends appropriate disciplinary actions against the suspended officers,” the statement partly read.

Umar cited Section 0331 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations that gives room for further investigations since the matter is currently with the relevant authorities.

He explained that the suspended officers are serving under the office of the Secretary to the State Government, attached to ministries of Higher Education and Natural Resources, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Alh. Abubakar Usman during the session, warned civil servants to adhere to the rules of engagements in the conduct and discharge of their responsibilities.

This is as he reiterated the Commission’s efforts, commitment and determination to sanitize the civil service system for effective performance and development.
