Bassey delighted to score first Super Eagles goal
Calvin Bassey can’t hide his excitement after scoring his first-ever goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.
The Fulham defender netted the equalising goal for the Super Eagles in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Toyota Stadium.
Bassey nodded home Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s superb cross on the dot of 45 minutes.
The 25-year-old celebrated the proud occasion on the social media.
He also declared that the Super Eagles will keep fighting for the 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket.
“Honoured to wear this shirt and score my first goal. We didn’t win but we keep believing, if anyone can do it, it is God,” Bassey wrote.
The former Rangers star has made 32 appearances for the three-time African champions.
